A big "shout out" to all the teams who are participating in the VirginiaFIRST e-cycle drive. Considering the bad winter weather and the launch of e-cycle just prior to the robot building season, many of you have once again utilized your excellent project management skills and taken on this new venture. For those teams who are currently participating, continue the great work toward helping to dispose of electronics in an environmentally responsible way! If your team hasn't signed up for the program, please consider becoming a "Green Team". Teams that have not enrolled in the program can still sign up by going to the 2nd Solutions's website. A copy of the VirginiaFIRST sign up sheet (right click -> save as) is also attached. Remember, this hard copy has to be completed and either faxed or mailed to VirginiaFIRST before you are "official."
The good news is that you can now e-cycle all year round, rather than just during robot season.
For those teams who have turned items into 2nd Solutions, you will be receiving a check within 90 days after 2nd Solutions receives the items.
Just a few reminders about the program:
1. The amount that teams receive will be based on market valuation of the items collected, based on factors such as age, functionality, and condition. As a general rule, the older the item is and the worse condition its in, the less it will be worth. Some items will be worth no more than scrap value, which will be minimal.
2. When collecting electronics, it is important for teams to strictly adhere to the list of acceptable items that is in the team handbook. If you have any questions, or are unsure about what items are acceptable, 2nd Solutions has an excellent website that contains a lot of useful information.
