Capturing Value in End-of-Life Technology

Frequently Asked Question

Do you accept computers that are not laptops. Do you accept keyboards and monitors?

Due to shipping and logistical matters, we are not accepting desktop computers from teams during the pilot. However, we are interested in computers and LCD monitors in volume that would come from a business during their technology refresh. Please note we have to pay for the proper recycling of CRT monitors so the value of other materials you bring in could be affected.

Do you accept VCR movies or just DVDs?

We accept DVDs only.

Do you accept PSP games and players? Do you accept Game Boy games and players?

Yes, any type of portable game player and game is acceptable.

You mentioned taking the materials to the FedEx store for transport. Our school has UPS pickup codes; can we use UPS to send from the school?

Yes you may use UPS to ship from your school as long as the box tightly packed with paper filler and securely taped shut.

Your list ommits desktops and monitors due to weight. Since we are in Richmond, if we provide transport, can we include these items?

Yes you may deliver desktops and monitors to our 2211 Dickens Road, Richmond Virginia location. Please note we have to pay for the proper recycling of CRT monitors so the value of other materials you bring in could be affected.

Do you accept TV's for the recycling? Full size, mini, with VCR, etc?

Due to shipping, logistical and recycling matters, we do not accepting TV's in our recycling program. Please note that TV's and CRT monitors need to be recycled by experts with specific training and we would have to pay for the proper recycling. Therefore the value of other materials you bring in could be affected.

I was looking for a list of items with point values. I thought I heard that one would be available, but I cannot find them on the website.

You can find a sample table of point values in the e-cycle packet, which was given out on kickoff. A copy can be downloaded by clicking on the "Download the Handbook" link. Also, the sample table can be found in the "How this Program Works" link.
