FIRST, working with 2nd Solutions, Inc. is initiating a major "green" initiative that addresses the growing environmental problem associated with the disposal of electronic devices while, at the same time, offers an exciting new funding opportunity for FRC teams. Green e-cycle will enable FRC teams to collect a broad range of used electronic devices that can be converted into funds that will support your FRC program. Green e-cycling underscores FIRST's mission to "change the culture," by directly addressing two challenges of 21st Century life: the impact to the environment of decades in a "throwaway society" and the short life-cycle of modern electronic devices. This initiative is an all-around win for teams, their communities, and the environment.
Green E-cycle Pilot Program
VirginiaFIRST has been selected to conduct the initial pilot program for Green e-cycle, which if successful will lead to a national launch later in the year. This pilot period will begin at the FRC kickoff event, January 9, and end on April 1, 2010. All teams located in Virginia are invited and encouraged to participate. Although this pilot will be relatively short, once the national initiative is rolled out teams will have the opportunity to continue.
